Robert Gene Kressig, 69, Springfield, passed away at 12:55 a.m. Thursday, July 8, 2004, in St. John's Hospital. Robert was born on Aug. 19, 1934, to the late Fred W. and Helen L. (Phelps) Kressig in Salisbury, Mo., He was united in marriage to Elizabeth A. Francka on Aug. 11, 1958, in Carlin, Mo. Robert attended Central Methodist College in Fayetteville where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1953; he then went on to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia, and graduated in 1980 from Drury College where he earned a Masters of Arts in Education. Robert was employed with Humansville and Springfield Public School Districts including Hillcrest High School and Jarrett Middle School from which he retired and taught social studies. Robert was a member of the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Fred Oscar Kressig. Survivors include his loving wife, Elizabeth, of the home; children, Debbie Kressig of Lancaster, Pa., Robert Kressig of Garland, Texas, and Marcia Davis and husband, John, of Ashland, Va.; three grandchildren, Zachary Davis, Bridget Davis and Grace Davis, all of Ashland, VA.; and numerous other loving relatives and ahost of friends. Visitation will be held today, July 9, 2004, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Thieme-Shadel-Hicks Funeral Service at Rivermonte Chapel with a prayer Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church with Monsignor Thomas E. Reidy officiating. Interment will follow in Resurrecton Cemetery. The family has requested memorial donations be made to the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church Building Fund of the American Kidney foundation with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
