About	Melinda "Mel" Marie Gettle, caseworker for Oklahoma Baptist Children's Home for Girls - Madill Campus, joined her heavenly Father on Monday, October 1, 2007. She was 31. Mel was born in Springfield, Missouri, on July 22, 1976, to Alice L. Askew Hursh and Joe Gettle. Mel spent her time caring and giving to others through her church, Bellview Baptist, and local organizations such as Caring Community Programs. She attended Drury University and graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. Mel was bubbly and possessed an infectious smile that she lavished on family, friends and loved ones. She is s self-acclaimed "lover of music and art." She was always singing and loved any creative project. She also enjoyed rollerblading, cooking, reading, gardening and getting together with friends. Mel says about herself, "As I have grown in my relationship with Jesus, He has helped me to become the wonderfully unique person that I am today." Mel is survived by her mother, Alice L. Askew Hursh; her father, Joe Gettle and his wife, Sherry; her siblings, B.J. Hursh, Jeff Thomas and Summer Montgomery; her grandmothers, Doris Askew and Georgia Gettle; nieces, Brynn Thomas, Brooke Thomas and Jillian Montgomery; nephew, Tate Montgomery; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Mel's memory will live on in the hearts of those who were touched by her life. Services will be held at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel on Monday, October 8, 2007, at 10 a.m., with burial to follow in Eastlawn Cemetery.
