About Deborah Elaine Reynolds, affectionately known as "Debbie", left us at 2:08 p.m. on Wednesday February 18, 2004, at the age of 53. She was our beloved mother, sister, niece, cousin, and friend. She was born in Springfield on November 7, 1950. She was raised and lived in Springfield all of her life. She graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1968 where she was a Highlander, and she attended Southwest Missouri State University. She is survived by her son, Sage Tyler Hutchens, of the home, and her brother, Lawrence Lee Reynolds, of Springfield, She was preceded in death by her father, H. L. "Pete" Reynolds and her mother, Edith Holsapple Reynolds. Debbie was a business woman who, along with her brother and son, owned and managed Ozark Mattress Factory and Reynolds Home Furnishings. She was elected the first woman to the board of directors of Therapedic International. She received numerous sales awards and acknowledgements of appreciation for her business ventures. She loved gong to movies, reading, eating out, spending and tending her flowers, She was a lover of animals, and gave her time, money and energy to the rescue of abandoned pets and to environmental causes. Both Senator John Danforth and Governor John Ashcroft recognized her efforts. All who knew her and loved her will miss her, but she would not want us to mourn but to celebrate her life. Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. in Greenlawn North on Saturday, February 28, 2004. The memorial service will begin at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Charley Shurtz officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions are to be made to the Care Shelter and to Community Hospices of America.
