About	Ike Letterman departed this life on Thursday, September 18, 2008, following complications from surgery. Ike was born on December 5, 1952, in Springfield, Mo. He graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1970, where he was an outstanding athlete, excelling in basketball, baseball, track and golf. He attended Missouri Southern State College, SBU, and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. Ike retired from the state of Missouri, where he served as recreational director for the Department of Corrections. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of Mount Olive Lodge, a Master of the University Lodge and a member of Central Christian Church. Ike is survived by his wife, Paula of the home; four sons, Lance and his wife, Amy, Heath, Chad and John Letterman; his mother, Mary Lou Barnett, all of Springfield; his brother, Dwayne and his wife, Helen Letterman of Marshfield; four grandchildren, Sydney Wickman, Blake, Brett and Madison Letterman; special relatives, Herbert and Freda Atwell; many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Sherman Letterman; a sister, Trecia; maternal grandparents, Cloren and Ruby Richardson; paternal grandparents, James and Flora Letterman; and his mother and father-in-law, Paul and Flora Gold. Ike was known for his laugh, candor, fun spirit and athletic abilities. He will be missed dearly and truly was the last dinosaur. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 21, in Greenlawn FuneralHome East, with visitation at 1:30, and services following at 2 p.m. Reverend David Evans will officiate. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Children's Miracle Network or St.Jude Children's Foundation.
