About | Obituary: Cheryle Sue (Buxton) Tapp, 62, of Springfield, Mo., went to her heavenly home on Monday, July 14, 2008, after a courageous fight against an extended illness. She had her family by her side. She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, David C. Tapp; her three adoring daughters and their spouses, Sherry and Neil Brock, Strafford, Mo., Shelley and Rick Copeland, Springfield, Mo., and Jennifer and Tim Posey, Springfield, Mo.; her step-daughter, Sheila Johnson and husband, Dennis, Springfield, Mo.; her five precious granddaughters Morgan, Riley and Carly Brock, Audrey Copeland and Sarah Posey; her mother, Sue Buxton, Springfield, Mo.; her siblings, Brenda Morris, Joan Denison; Bruce Buxton, Alicia Surridge and Jayne Austin; and numerous extended family members and innumerable friends. Her father, James E. Buxton; and sister, Trish Snelson, preceded her in death. Cheryle graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1964, and later obtained her B.S. in Business and the respected CPCU designation. She was employed with State Farm Insurance for 33 years, until her retirement in August, 2004. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Springfield. She most enjoyed planning trips for her husband and family in pursuit of her passion for travel and discovering the world. She had a special love for Grand Cayman Islands, which she visited over 20 times. Other hobbies included gardening, gourmet cooking, holidays, decorating, shopping, entertaining friends and family, and bird watching. She had exceptional creative and artistic abilities. Her favorite pastime was spending time with, spoiling and supporting her granddaughters in every way. She lived life to the fullest by making each day special and celebrating every opportunity. She was generous to her loved ones and community and appreciated the work of several charities by giving back. The family would like to extend special thanks to 300 East staff at Cox South, the ICU staff and many others at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, for their compassion and care during her illness. Visitation will be Friday, July 18, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m., in Greenlawn Funeral Home East. A memorial service in First Baptist Church, Springfield, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2008. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association or St. Jude's Children's Hospital. We love you Sweetie, Mom and Mas, and will miss you until we meet again. We will continue to be inspired by your courage, strength and wisdom. [Source: Spfd News Leader dated: July 16, 2008; SSDI] |
