Favorite School Memory | Being involved in the theater program and the several good people I befriended during my time at HPHS. |
About Me | After N.Y.U. I worked in the Avant Garde theater that thrived in N.Y. in the 60's and 70's. I was an actor and a stage manager for a few companies and had the good fortune to work with some of the "names" of the off and off-off Braodway scene duiring those years. I was lucky to rub shoulders and live among many poets, writers, painters, dancers, actors, designers, filmmakers as well as progressive political and cultural luminaries during that amazingly fertile era. It was a formative and that influenced who I am and how I approach the world and people around me today. I lived in the East Village during college and afterward - for a total of 11 years. In 1977 I moved to Los Angeles - Hollywood - and dipped my toes in that world. For the next 4 years I led a bi-coastal existance, returning to N.Y.C and the East Village in 1981. In 1985 I again moved to Hollywood. I've lived in Los Angeles.since then, with the exception of 2 years in Richmond, Virginia, where my former wife had gotten a tenured Professorship at the University of Richmond. I returned to L.A. in late 2000, and continued to split my time between here and Richmond for 3 years. Since the Summer of 2003 I've lived in L.A. exclusively. N.Y. in the 60's and 70's was an amazing place of change and creativity. I was fortunate to be a part of a the cultural and social sea-change that occurred in out culture during those years. (The question of whether or not our intentions were successful, in whole or in part, is subject matter for debate by scholars and those of us who lived it. At the very least we made enough noise about the state of our country, the world and assorted social issues via our questioning and reacting to the "old ways" that 40 years later it is fascinating grist for the mill!) I've done much of interest professionally, too much to list here. For the last 20 years I've been working for Hollywood's Movie and Television Studios - Universal, Warner Brothers, 20th Century Fox, Walt Disney, etc. I've been at Paramount Studios for the last 11 years. I currently live in a wonderful neighborhood, on top of L.A's Mount Washington. It's a great, fairly large 4 bedroom, 3 bath, etc. home. It was built the year our class graduated from HPHS. I live with my partner and her 2 teenage children, twins - a boy and a girl. Although I'm 15 minutes from work at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, and 15 minutes from downtown L.A., being up here on Mount Washington is most definitely not like being in the center of one of the largest cities in America, even though that's exactly where we live. There you have it - a brief synopsis barely covering what I've done, where I've been and who I am. It's been an amazing ride, for sure and the road ahead promises...(read more) |
