About Me	I was born in Kankakee and lived my formative years in a small town called Irwin. I went to school in another small town, Herscher. I was fascinated with computers so I tried Kankakee Community College but could not focus so I joined the Navy. I was trained in computers and I loved the travel that the Navy made possible. I have worked for a craft shop, a pizza place, a camera shop, a restaurant, an actuarial company, the U.S. Census Bureau, a newspaper, a wedding chapel, a comic book distributor, a magazine, Bell Laboratories, a company which produced Bible study guides and research material, and now Column. I have been a cook, a dish washer, a programmer, a sales clerk, a teacher, a research assistant, a database administrator, a manager, a publisher, a wedding planner, a minister, an editor, and a writer. I have volunteered as an election judge, as an aide in a hospital, and to teach English as a second language. I have been part of the team who established and ran a convention for 1000 of our “closest friends” and held the positions of chairman, publicity, registration, security, art show/auction, hospitality suite, and hotel liaison (thankfully, not all at the same time). I am not a sports person. If pushed, I support all teams Chicago. I have attended baseball games only because there was the attraction of peanuts, hot dogs, beer, and fresh air (oh, and because it was the Cubs). I love Christmas and put up multiple themed trees in varying sizes (8 ft to 5 inches) each year. To date, my record is 27 in one year. I constantly fight the compulsion to edit restaurant menus and books I am reading; and, don’t get me started on the signs in grocery stores....(read more)
