About Me | I attended Hampton University on an academic scholarship, and education scholarship (WDC Harvey Scholarship), and a research scholarship (HBCU-UP funded by NSF). I was a student in the Mathematics department and also in the Leadership Institute under Brig. Gen. Bettye Simmons. I have done research at Jefferson Labs, studying superconductivity rays and at NASA, modeling a particular control valve. I have presented independent research ( on Six Sigma Quality Control) at research conferences and placed twice. In 2005, I worked in the Financial District, NYC at Goldman Sachs, Inc. as an America's Financing Group Strategist. I was responsible for performing risk assessments on municipal swaps, creating equations to price options that were created to sell with stocks and writing programs to automate the pricing process among other responsibilities. I was also an active volunteer math tutor in Hampton's Math Lab and a participant in Hampton's University Choir and traveling Concert Choir. I was in a host of campus clubs, organizations, and honour societies (Golden Key, Beta Kappa Chi), and acted as the Vice President of the Math Club for the 2005-2006 school year. I was employed by Hampton University Upward Bound (head Teacher Counselor) and as a tutor/teacher's assistant for Hampton's Young Doctor's and SMEEP programs. I am currently a student at Teachers College, Columbia University in the MA Secondary Math Education program as a Math for America Newton Fellow. Upon arrival to NY on June 1, 2007, I have been involved in many outreaches throughout the city, have been volunteering with KIPP STAR Charter College Prep School, and have helped with the...(read more) |
