About Michael Joseph Monette Obituary
In Loving Memory of Michael J. Monette

January 20, 1961 – July 8, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Monette, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, son, and treasured friend on 7/8/25.

A true legend in the Minnesota boxing community, Mike carved out a remarkable legacy with a career that inspired many and brought pride to our state. His unmatched dedication, grit, and heart in the ring earned him not only titles but the deep respect of athletes, coaches, and fans alike.

Michael was a fiercely loving father and grandfather. His greatest pride was his family, and he never missed a moment to show it. He was a cherished uncle and a one-of-a-kind friend—known for his sharp wit, fierce loyalty, and larger-than-life presence that could light up any room.

He is survived by his children: Miguel (Annie), Nicole, Louis, Jessica, Andrew (Madison), Matthew, and 10 grandchildren, as well as two brothers and four sisters who will carry on his spirit with love and strength. He was preceded in death by his parents and aunt, Marshall, Nancy and Ginny.

A heartfelt thank you to Nina Hammer, his caretaker, as well as Beth and the hospice staff at the Veterans Clinic. Your incredible compassion and care provided comfort and peace during his final days, and we are forever grateful.

Michael’s life was full of fight, love, and unforgettable moments. He left us with stories that will be told for generations and a presence that can never be replaced.

Rest easy, dog. You were truly one of a kind.

A Celebration of Mike will be held from 9-12Noon with a sharing of stories starting at 11AM, Thursday, August 14th at Klecatsky & Sons West Funeral Home, 1051 So. Robert St; WSP. Followed by a 21 gun Salute at Fort Snelling.
