| About Me | I was born in Oxford, Mississippi ("Ole Miss"), but we moved to Lexington, KY when I was four. I attended Cassidy Elementary, Morton Junior High, and Henry Clay High School in Lexington. I earned both Bachelors (1982) and Masters (1993) degrees in Social Work at the University of Kentucky. I also attended Lexington Theological Seminary for one year (1984). I married my wonderful wife Cathy in 1985. We have a 22-year old daughter named Brittany, a daughter named Adrienne who died at age one month in 1995, and (at least) five more children in Heaven who were miscarried. For about nine years in high school and college I essentially left the practice of my faith and immersed myself in the party lifestyle. Before and after this period, I belonged to and tried out various Protestant and Charismatic denominations during my spiritual searching, and studied many others as well as the major non-Christian religions. I became a Catholic in 1993, and by God's grace this is where I'll stay forever! The major influences that brought me to the Catholic Church were (of course) Jesus' Real Presence in the Eucharist, reading the Early Church Fathers, and studying Church history. In September 2011, Cathy and I began the Diocese of Lexington's 5-year Diaconate Formation Program. God willing, I'll be ordained a deacon in the Catholic Church in June 2016. I began working for the Department of Social Services in 1986 (now the Department of Community Based Services/Division of Protection and Permanency), where I did a lot of different types of casework, but mostly worked with juvenile offenders. Then I transferred to the Department of Juvenile Justice in 1997, where I have been both a case manager and a district supervisor. I am currently the court specialist for District Southeast 1.
