John Carter
Class of 1969
Prior to graduating I had enlisted in the Marine Corps. Two weeks after graduating I took my first ever plane ride to Marine Corps recruit depot, San Diego CA. June 17, 1969 was the beginning of what was to be a twenty year career. I retired from the Marine Corps in June 1989. Best twenty years of my life. After retiring I did 13 years in the private business sector. In 2004 I began my second career with FEMA, Federal Emergency Management Agency. I spent sixteen years with FEMA supporting disasters around the country and teaching classes relative to disaster support. I retired from FEMA in 2020. I have three children, two grandchildren and five great grand children. Life’s been interesting to say the least.
