About	Janis (Hilliard) Spangard --Janis Spangard passed away at her home North of Bonners Ferry, Idaho on October 31, 2012. God lovingly sent her to Eleanor and Barney C. Hilliard of California on April 3, 1953. After college graduation she served for a time with Vista … Janis, an ABUNDANT giver, shared not only her talents and expertise, but her time, laughter, and love. She was an avid quilter for Quilts of Valor, an organization that makes and donates quilts to wounded soldiers. Serving others was second nature to Janis----never looking for accolades or payment in return but always staying in the background.Janis was a natural athlete and always full of joy and energy. Janis is survived by her beloved husband, Jack, her mother, Eleanor Parker of California; her older brother, Barney Hilliard and family of California; her younger brother, Andy Parker and family of California.

I met Janis in First Grade. She became a very close dear friend for years. She had a zest for life and abundant energy. Janis held many fun sleepovers in elementary school. She and I played together often, taking diving, swimming, and dance classes, and Brownies. Janis was a natural athlete, too! I couldn't keep up! She and I had summer reading competitions that her Grandmother monitored. We also shared fun times with the Foothill 4H Club. Over the years we kept in touch even after she retired to Idaho.
