The first Hawthorne High School Alumni Day Open House will be held on March 10, 2012 at the high school from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All alumni from the first graduating class in 1935 to 2011 are welcome to return to their alma mater for this first-of-its-kind event. (Also see Facebook page: Hawthorne High School Alumni Day 2012.) Returning alum will have an opportunity to begin the day by gathering around the big fireplace in the Library Media Center and then taking a guided tour of the building, watching videos of past graduations, enjoying old yearbooks and Clarion newspapers (which will be for sale), buying alumni tee-shirts and used books from the library, signing up to be a career mentor (for both HHS grads and students), meeting up with old friends and enjoying lunch/ snack in the cafeteria. The day is open to all grads at all times, but targeted events will be planned on the following schedule: 11:00-12:00 for the grads of 1935 to 1957 12:00 to 1:00 for the grads of 1958 to 1973 1:00 to 2:00 for the grads of 1974 to 1989 2:00 to 3:00 for the grads of 1990 to 2000 3:00 to 4:00 for the grads of 2001 to 2011. Any alum with video of a graduation, sporting event, theatrical production, etc. is encouraged to bring it along and share the memory. To raise funds for the renovation of the Library Media Center, we will request a $10 entrance fee.
