About (no additional information)
Events Marjorie “Marge” Ann (Shiffer) Gregory, 84, of East Lansing, MI went home to Jesus on October 26, 2025. Marge was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, encourager and prayer warrior; her presence will be deeply missed.

Marge was born on October 31,1940, to Loyal and Lavina (Buck) Shiffer in Shiawassee County. Marge graduated from Haslett High School in 1959 and won Cherry Pie Queen in 1958. After graduating as a diploma grad from Hurley School of Nursing in Flint, MI, Marge returned home and began her legacy of caring for others. Marge married Alvin Dean Gregory in 1963 and began life together. Marge retired from Lansing General Hospital at age 55, not just for the sake of having time to travel, but so that she could minister to her community more, by attending doctors appointments, hospital visits, home visits and just being a friend.

In 1970, Marge made the decision to “drive a stake” and follow the way of Jesus in her life. Marge was an active member of Woodview Church of the Nazarene for over 60 years, serving as church board secretary for 39 years. Marge served as camp nurse for many years at Indian Lake Nazarene Campground where she continued her love of caring for others. Even when driving was no longer possible for Marge, she continued to find a way to be an encouragement through calls, cards and conversations. Marge emulated the fruit of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Marge also had a love for traveling, sewing, gardening, cooking and music. As often as she could Marge would be on the road to visit with family and friends across the state and sometimes even the country. Including her favorite trips to St. Louis to spend time with her great-grands, Kentucky for bluegrass festivals and Maine for beautiful scenery and seafood.

Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Dean Gregory, her brothers-in-law Jerry Pratt, James Cross and Albert Nemeskal, her grandchildren Katherine Ann Gregory and Patrick Henry Gregory Spyker.

Marge is survived by her daughter Patricia (Henry) Spyker of East Lansing, MI; son Thomas (Denise) Gregory of Kalkaska, MI; Grandchildren Jacob (Allison) Gregory of St. Louis, MI; Grace (Zach) Rasmuson of Kalkaska, MI; Gregory Planck of Saginaw, MI; Brennen (Jewela) Gregory of Washington, MI; Emma Spyker of East Lansing, MI; Great-Grandchildren Carter, Darren and Hallie; bonus Grandchildren Kent (Sheila) Planck of Eaton Rapids, MI; Betsy Planck of East Lansing, MI; Cassie Rivera of Lansing, MI and 8 bonus great-grandchildren; Siblings Velma Cross of Farwell, MI; Linden (Susan) Shiffer of Hillman, MI; Dynna Nemeskal of Maple City, MI; and several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted by Jacob Gregory at 11:00 on Friday, October 31, 2025 at Woodview Church of the Nazarene 1500 E. State Rd. Lansing, MI with interment to follow at Rose Cemetery in Bath, MI. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 30, 2025 from 4-7pm at Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Home in Dewitt and one hour prior to the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Gratiot County Hope House, 1001 W Monroe Rd, Saint Louis, MI 48880.
