Lorraine Carol Cain, affectionately known as "Red," passed away on February 21, 2024, at the age of 81 in Oregon, Ohio. Born on February 9, 1943, to Nelson and Leona McCumby, Lorraine grew up in a loving family and graduated from Haslett High School.
For many years, Lorraine dedicated her career to serving as a secretary for Okemos Public Schools, where her meticulous attention to detail and warm demeanor made her a beloved figure among staff and students alike.
Lorraine had a vibrant and creative spirit, finding joy in hobbies such as quilting, painting, crafting, and collecting unique items. She particularly loved painting on rocks, a hobby that brought her much joy and relaxation. Lorraine and her husband, John, cherished their time split between Arizona during the winter months and their log home in northern Michigan during the summers, making the most of their retirement years.
Lorraine is survived by her loving family, including her children, John (Mindy) and James (Kami); grandchildren, Bradley, Alex (Mariah), Makaila (Tony), Chase, Sawyer, and Blake; and great-grandchildren, Jayde, Waylon, Wren, Rudy, and Maevyn. She is also survived by her siblings, Jan and Ellie. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Leona McCumby, and her brothers, Lloyd and Bill. Her husband, John, passed away just a few months after her.
A memorial service to celebrate Lorraine's life will be held at Williamstown Region Hall, 4990 Zimmer Rd, Williamston, MI 48895, on September 8, 2024, from noon to 3 pm.
