WHIDDEN, David Michael - age 79, of Fenton, passed away Friday, January 20, 2023. Funeral Mass will be held 11 AM Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton. Fr. Robert Copeland celebrant. His Mass will be live-streamed and may be viewed on his obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. Visitation will be 4-6 PM Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, followed by a 6 PM Scripture Service.
David was born March 10, 1943 in Lansing, the son of Herbert L. and Phyllis Irene (Henry) Whidden. He was a graduate of Western Michigan University earning his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. David retired from GM as a Mechanical Engineer. After his retirement he worked for FEMA and as an EMT. He was a volunteer sheriff and a boy scout leader. David also volunteered for Big Brothers, the Old News Boys, and the March for Life Pro-Life March in Washington, DC. His Catholic faith was very important to him.
Surviving are: his beloved wife, Mary Ann; three children, Timothy David (Paula) Whidden, Marcia (Jason) Abbott, Angela (Russell) Regan; seven grandchildren, Audrey, Rachel, Julian, Ryan, Samuel, Bethany, Joslyn; and many lifelong friends.
