About Me | “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10) Somos hechura Suya, creados en Cristo Jesús para hacer buenas obras ... Sometimes I am asked why I am so precise in describing my “Religious Views.” The reason is simple. What we believe is important. (Mark. 7:7-8) It influences our whole life, temporally and eternally. (1 Timothy 4:16) First, by “REFORMED” I mean that that I believe in the foundational truths about sin and salvation recovered by the Protestant Reformation commonly called the “doctrines of grace”. That is to say, it is by grace alone that we are drawn to and convicted to the truth of the Gospel; justification is receive by faith; good works will follow our reception of the Gospel; the grace of God is sufficient enough to enable us to endure the end. As a “Reformed” person I also believe in the primacy of Scripture, that is that the Written Word of God is inerrant, infallible and thus the only authority for testing our discernment of God’s will and the only absolute authority for all our lives (2 Tim. 3:16-17; Heb. 4:12; 2 Pet. 1:20-21). Accordingly, all other forms of extra-biblical charismatic revelation (the prophetic, dreams and visions, etc.) must always be submitted to and be judged by the test of Scripture as the second witness. Second, by “CHARISMATIC” I believe in the present day work of the Spirit of God in empowering and equipping the saints of God for service and ministry through the operation and manifestation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit as described in 1 Corinthians 12 and the Book of Acts. But the gifts are not means and ends in themselves. Spiritual gifts are given to equip the church to carry out its ministry until Christ returns, “You are not lacking in any spiritual gift, as you await the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Cor.1:7) Therefore the gifts of the Spirit are to be used in such a way as to not draw attention to the gifts themselves, but to God – the ultimate gift-giver. The operation of the gifts and its’ accompanying signs and wonders, are God's witness to his Written Word and the truth of the Gospel. They are not in competition with the Written Word. They are not against the Written Word. They are not over the Written Word. They are divine witnesses to the value and truth and necessity and centrality of the Word and they all point to the Gospel --- the salvation that is in the cross of Jesus Christ, our Lord, Savior and Redeemer. By “APOSTOLIC” I believe in the Apostles doctrine and practice as established in the New Testament. The ”apostolic gift” is functional and operational in the Body of Christ today. The genuine apostolic body is authentically submitted to the authority resident in the body, which is identified by anointing and call and not church office or title, whether humanely or religiously obtained by credentials. As a “sent out” people under the Great Commission, we are all called to live the apostolic life, authentically representing Christ, in power, relevance and compassion, to an unbelieving, lost world while continually discerning the changing context of the ...(read more) |
