Michael Lee
Class of 1974
Army, 20+ Years
Enlisted in the Army in June 1974. I was trained as a radio-teletype operator at Fort Gordon, Georgia and spent my career in the communications-electronics field, growing from a radio operator to the Communications Chief at the company, battalion and regiment level. Graduated from Airborne School (September 1978); Ranger School (November 1978); Military Free-Fall School (HALO School, November 1985); SERE School (Army Survival School, October 1986) as a few of the Army schools that I attended. 13 of my 20 years were spent in special operations, either in the Ranger Battalions, Special Forces Group and Joint Special Operations Command. My last duty station was at Fort Irwin, California and was one of two Brigade Signal Trainers for the Operations Group, National Training Center. I retired on March 1, 1995. In May 2005, I was recalled to Active Duty and served until 2009 at the Human Resources Command-St. Louis and worked in the Veterans Support Department. In 2009, I was reassigned to the Human Terrain Systems at Fort Leavenworth as the Military Planner. I spent 11 months at Bagram AG, Afghanistan as the Operations NCOIC for Human Terrain Systems and returned to Fort Leavenworth in 2012 as the Training Directorate NCOIC for the Human Terrain Systems. On April 9, 2014, I retired (Again) from the Army with 28 years of total service. I had the privilege of serving with all ranks and with the Air Force, Navy and Marines. Rangers Lead the Way!
