Tammie J. Coffman, R.N., M.S.N., O.C.N.
Instructor of Nursing
Tammie Coffman, a long-time Abilene oncology nurse, will be serving as an instructor of nursing with the Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing beginning this fall semester.
Coffman has served for the last four years as the clinical research coordinator of the Mary Crowley Cancer Research Center at Texas Oncology and as a staff RN.
She began as a patient care technician in the oncology unit at Hendrick Health Systems in May of 1994, served as an oncology nurse for Texas Oncology for seven years, a clinic nurse coordinator and chemotherapy infusion nurse for Hendrick Cancer Center, and as director of education and case manager and for Mediplex Home Health.
Coffman has participated in the curriculum development for the 2013 International Nursing Symposium, and curriculum developed for the Troops to Nurses program.
She holds a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Hardin-Simmons University, 2012; and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, 1995, from McMurry University, graduating magna cum laude. Coffman is currently studying in the Irvin School of Education’s Doctor of Education in Leadership program.
In 1976, Coffman graduated salutatorian from Hamlin High School.
