About Me | "Harvey is from Bayside, New York and has lived in Southern California since he was nine. He is married to Donna Black a noted land use attorney and they have a blended family of four sons, four grandsons and a granddaughter. He is a devoted father and grandfather and always said that “family comes first.” Completing their family is a 8 year old Portuguese Water Dog, Z. Rucker Blacklander (Rux). Harvey graduated from UCLA (Political Science) and prior to that attended Los Angeles City College. He was honored as an Outstanding Alumnus of LACC in 2018 where he served on the LACC Foundation Board of Directors. Harvey was recently selected to serve on the UCLA Alumni Association Board of Directors. He is also a Law School dropout. He is the Founding Partner of Englander Knabe & Allen. The Los Angeles Business Journal ranks EKA as the largest lobbying and public affairs firm in Los Angeles for the past 14 years. The LABJ twice selected Harvey as one of the 500 most influential people in Los Angeles. Harvey also added litigation and crisis management consulting to the firm’s services. It was reported that Harvey was adept at “changing the story” in his work for his clients. Harvey sold his interest in EKA in 2019 and remains a consultant to the firm as well as having some private clients. Harvey's interests include collecting contemporary art, playing golf, travel, working out and great food. He is an investor in two of LA’s great restaurants, Bestia and Bavel. Harvey and Donna recently sold their longtime Beverly home and now divide their time between the home they built at the Hideaway in La Quinta and the pied a terre they purchased in Century City.. He is a member of Hillcrest Country Club where he serves on their Board of Directors and also The Hideaway in La Quinta.. One of Harvey's favorite quotes is:"“Some men see things as they are and say, why; I dream things that never were and say, why not.” Senator Robert F. Kennedy (with a nod to George Bernard Shaw)". Another of his favorite quotes from his days as a political campaign strategist, although he attributes it to Josef Stalin, “I don’t care who votes, I care who counts the votes.” It may not be...(read more) |
