After graduation Dan served in the Navy for four years as a Polaris Missile Launch Control Supervisor aboard nuclear powered Fleet Ballistic Missile Submarines home ported at Pearl Harbor Hawaii. During his enlistment he married his sweetheart, Hilda Nilsson (Class of '68). Upon separation they returned to Los Angeles and after college Dan worked for Hughes Aircraft /Raytheon in El Segundo for 30 years in Supply Chain Management until his retirement in 2006. In 1983 they moved to the San Gabriel Valley where they raised threir four children, three girls and a boy. Dan also wrote a community news column for the local newspaper for 10 years and served on the La Puente Planning Commission as a member and chairman for 6 years. After retiring Dan was elected to the La Puente City Council in 2007 where he has served as Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem and as a Council Member.
