About Thomas Barry Hughes, age 48, of Glendale, Arizona, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 5, 2014. Born on December 13, 1965 in Trenton, New Jersey to loving parents Carrie Zane (nee Mason) and Chester William Hughes, Sr.; Tom was their youngest child. Tom grew up in Hamilton, New Jersey for most of his first 18 years of life and attended Steinert High School until the end of his junior year. Then in August of 1983, Tom moved with his parents to Arizona to join other siblings and where eventually the rest of his siblings would come to reside. Tom attended his senior year of high school at Paradise Valley High School in Phoenix and graduated with the class of 1984. Tom was always a hard worker and eventually became a Regional Director for NMC. Tom was a member of the West Phoenix Baptist Church. He loved the beach and longed to go to Wildwood Crest in New Jersey; a family favorite vacation spot in his youth. Tom compensated with many trips to San Diego and helped plan many church youth group trips there too. Only his deep love for his close family kept him in the desert. Tom also loved Disneyland and enjoyed accompanying many of his nieces and nephews on trips there to share in their excitement. Tom was always very creative and enjoyed the finer things in life. He could take something he found at a yard sale and make it into a piece of art. He often did and enjoyed making his house a home with many home projects. Tom was very close with his parents. Tom, his Mom and Dad referred to each other as "The Three Musketeers". He enjoyed spending time with them and loved cooking and planning meals for them too. Tom was a big fan of game shows and spent many evenings watching them with his mother, who he referred to as, "the love of his life."
Tom is preceded in death by a brother, Matthew John Hughes, grandparents, Carrie Dorwood Zane Mason, William Past Mason, Jr., Hannah Boss Hughes and Chester Andrew Hughes. Besides Tom's beloved parents Carrie and Chester W. Hughes Sr. of Glendale, AZ, Tom is also survived by six siblings who will affectionally remember Tom as "Tommyboy". Tom will always be remembered for his overwhelming love for his family, friends and animals. A sense of humor that made everyone laugh and smile just being with him. He will forever be in our hearts and is loved very much! Tom will be greatly missed but we take comfort in knowing that we will be united with him someday in Heaven. He just got home before us.
