About	Melbourne Dean “Mel” Martin, 68, of Interlachen, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at his home following an extended illness. Born in Lackawanna, New York, he resided in Interlachen for the past 35 years coming from Houston, Texas. Mel was a sheet metal worker with a sheet metal union in the HVAC industry. He had also worked at a Nuclear Power Plant in Houston, Texas. Mel had a variety of interests outside of work including, computer repair, fishing in the Adirondack Mountains, hunting in Texas, swimming at the springs, reading on line and enjoyed time around his beloved dogs and cats. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melbourne A. Martin and Audrey Martin and a nephew, Joseph Martin. Mel is survived by his wife of 17 years, Nancy Thorlakson of Interlachen, 2 daughters, Melissa Woodworth (Jordan) of Interlachen and Jessica Martin of Micanopy, 2 brothers, James Martin (Frances) of Beasley, TX and Roger Martin (Okwa) of Killeen, TX and a grandson, Jacob Woodworth. Memorial services celebrating Mel’s life will be at 6:00 P.M. Friday, August 2, 20224 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Interlachen with Bro. Ricky Bybee officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 P.M. until the time of services at 6:00 P.M.
