About	Richard Michael Ferree, 64, of Idaho Falls, succumbed to his fight with a Glioblastoma brain tumor December 1, 2017, at Turtle and Crane Assisted Living in Idaho Falls. Richard is survived by his son, Andrew, of Idaho Falls, sisters Kathie Simmons of Riverside, CA, and Marcia Thomey of Cambria, CA, nephews Doug Simmons of IL, and Dan Simmons of CA, nephew Jackson Bruce, niece Ariel Bruce, both of CA, and three great-nephews, Corey, Nathan and Dylan Simmons all of IL. He was predeceased by his wonderful parents Richard “Dick” and Beverly Ferree of El Cajon, CA. Richard was a graduate of Grossmont High School, La Mesa, CA, where he played football with guys that became lifelong friends. After high school, he continued his education obtaining a Bachelors degree and eventually a Masters degree. Upon entering the Army, he was stationed at Ft. Sill, OK. He was a 23 year old second lieutenant in the US Army Field Artillery, testing missiles in White Sands, NM. After his military service, he rose to upper management in Pacific Bell working in the Washington,DC, office and was eventually transferred to Irvine, CA. Later in his working career, Richard held several contractor jobs overseas in Iraq. Richard was very interested in military history. He appreciated art and had a fondness for animals. He was a very gregarious man and had friends all over the world. He will be missed by all. At his request no services will be held.
