Anderson - On April 17th, 2021, John Sackett passed away surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Jamestown, NY, on August 3rd, 1945, to the late Herb Sackett and Mary Douglas Sackett.

John graduated from the Simmons Institute for Embalming and Mortuary Management and was a licensed New York State Funeral Director.

He is survived by his wife, Betsy Thomas Sackett; daughters, Shelly Deriso and Julie Smith; grandchildren, Kate and Lane Deriso, and Ava and Graham Black; sister, Martha Sackett Reynolds; niece, Katie Donely; nephew, Matt Reynolds; and several cousins.

John was the founder and CEO of American Rehab and Adaptive Mobility Systems with offices in Atlanta, GA, and Greenville, SC. During this time John served on the Board of Directors for The Georgia Public Policy Foundation, Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute and on the executive committee for The Muscular Dystrophy Association. He also dabbled in local Atlanta politics.

After retirement, he returned to his first love, law enforcement and proudly served under David Crenshaw. He was also a Mason, Fair Play Lodge #132.

His hobbies and true loves included family, boating, Harley Davidson's, dogs, and law enforcement.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 22, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at The McDougald Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow visitation on Thursday, at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. David Blizzard officiating.
