About	Edgar (later called Ed) was a Texas politician who served in the Texas House of Representatives for District 1 from 1969 to 1975 and the Texas Senate for District 1 from 1979 to 1986. In high school, Edgar was a basketball star and involved in student government. He received his master's degree in political science from SMU. Edgar died of throat cancer.
Events	Edgar is buried in the Texas State Cemetery at Austin, Texas. He and his wife Jo Ann Jay had four children.
