About Me | Biography of Roy L. Hunt I was born Roy Lee Hunt,on May 05,1946, in the Parker House at Old Reyno, Arkansas. I was named after my father,Lee Roy Hunt, (he shortened his name to Leroy Hunt). He was born in Plainview, Arkansas on May 19, 1920; to William Thomas "Willie" & Sara Roe Hunt. He served in WW II in the Army, in France & Germany. After the war he married Naomi Belle Parker, born June 02, 1923 in Maynard, Arkansas; to Aaron Oren & Martha Mae Meridith Parker. They lived & raised 6 children in a community named Heelstring in northeast Arkansas. I was the oldest. I attended Datto elementery school & graduated from Corning High School in 1964. In 1965 I was drafted into the U.S. Army, & received Basic Training at Fort Polk, Louisana. I then went to Fort Sill, Oklahoma for Artillery Training, then to South Korea for 13 months overseas duty. In Korea, I was stationed at Camp Hunt 39th Artillery, 2nd Inf Division. After my tour of duty in Korea, I was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma to finish my tour of active duty in the Military. I was discharged in December of 1967. I returned home to Heelstring for a couple of weeks then went to St. Louis Missouri to work. After a little over a year in St. Louis, I returned to Corning and went to work at the Shoe Factory, where I met Carol Ann Neff. And on October 31, 1969 she became Mrs Roy Hunt. In a few days we will celebrate our 42nd anniversary. Shortly thereafter, we went to Springfield, Illinois in search of the American Dream. We didn't find it there so we moved on...back to Corning Arkansas. I went to work at L.A. Darlings in Paragould Arkansas and worked there for ten years. I worked at a couple of places then on September 11, 1982 (09-11-82) went to work for Steve Rockwell at Corning Publishing Company. I retired from Corning Publishing in May 2011, but still work there part time. I like to hunt, my favorite thing to hunt is squirrels, on Little River Island in the Black River bottoms. I like to fish, mostly catfish & trout, but am contempleting doing some crappie & Bass fishing. May even try some jug fishing & maybe set out a trot line or two. I also like camping out. I like to sleep in a tent, cook my food over a camp fire, then roast a marshmellow or two. I'm also into flea marketing, I buy stuff at yard sales & auctions & sell them in flea markets. I'm also into collecting old records, cassettes, 8-tracts, VCR's, CD's & DVD's. Actually my collection has succeeded rather well, and I am going to start selling some in the flea market. I'm working on a bucket list of things I would like to do. I've got the time, if I have the health & energy....retirement should be interesting & fun!
