About	Patrick James Caraway, 56, of Great Bend, died Aug. 27 at South Wind Hospice Home in Pratt. Born Jan. 18, 1953, at Hays, he was the son of Robert D. and Constance I. Gaunt Caraway. He marred Dee Penka on April 28, 1973, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend. He was a lifetime resident of Barton County. He graduated from Great Bend High School in the Class of 1972. Pat continued his education at Denver Tech School in Denver. He also ran a business tearing down and setting back up mobile homes. Pat was a hay broker and truck driver. He boasted of logging over a million miles in one year. Pat and Dee owned Caraway Enterprises and Custom Sound and Video. Mr. Caraway was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a former member of the Registered Texas Longhorn Association, and a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Parish. His passion was his family. He loved animals and working with his hands. Survivors include his wife, Dee, of the home; a daughter, Michelle Lynn Herren and husband Jim of Las Vegas, Nev.; an uncle, Charles Gaunt and wife Collette of Canon City, Colo.; two aunts, Betty Drenen of Leavenworth and Pearl McKinney of Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.; a brother, Robert Shanks and wife Lorraine of Great Bend; a sister, Janice Battin and husband Rick of Broken Arrow, Okla.
