About Me | Wonderfully broken. Consistently random. Insanely observant. Pathologically forgiving. Rabidly loyal. Brutally honest. Naively hopeful. Woefully impulsive. Gratefully redeemed. I really have to apologize to a lot of people, especially family and my friends back home...After moving to Vegas, and especially after the divorce, I surrounded myself with a lot of the wrong people and spent a lot of time doing the wrong things...Yeah, the musician, art, and tattoo gigs were cool, but it all took its toll. I decided to "clean house" and un-complicate my life, but in doing so, I isolated myself from the world, from my family and from real, true friends. After a few trips back home, it was made apparent that I had robbed my kids and myself of quite a few years that could have been much more well-spent, with people that really matter. Thank you God, for all of these wonderful people, and thank you especially, for their welcoming and forgiving natures! I'm not who I once was...the unpredictability, the fighting, hurting people who pissed me off, simply because they pissed me off, the "Alpha-male B.S"...those days are over. I've tried hard over the years to make ammends to the people I've hurt either directly or indirectly, and through Gods grace, I've been able to let go of the need to get back at those who have hurt me. Life is a lot better without having my guard up all the time, and without having to constantly look over my shoulder. I hope that the people I have hurt have forgiven me, but I completely understand if that's not the case. Forgiveness is never guaranteed...It's a blessing. From time to time, you will see posts on my wall that are Faith-based and Christian oriented. I don't expect all of my Facebook friends to hold the same religious views that I do, and I welcome opportunities to learn about the faith systems and religions of others. To be fair, though, if any of my friends want to talk about their faith with me, they should be prepared to hear about mine. Also, if someone feels compelled to respond to any of my posts, all that I ask from them is the same respect that I promise to give them. If anyone has a problem with my Faith that we can't work out between us, then I encourage them to either stop looking at the posts on my wall or to just de-friend me...It won't hurt my feelings. I tend to pick my battles much better than to agonize over why I've been de-friended. And for my more conservative-minded friends...I can be a bit "rough around the edges"...It doesn't make me any less of a Christian, nor does it make you more of one...'nuff said. I like to surround myself with funny people...Humor is always great medicine, and this life is way to short (AND too long) to spend it with the proverbial stick up your butt. I also appreciate honest folks who can tell it like it is...sometimes I need to be set straight, and I appreciate it deeply when I am. A person will most likely lose my attention, if all they ever talk about are their trials and tribulations. I have a good ear for listening, and a strong shoulder to cry on, but just like anyone else, I have my limits on woes and drama. Nobody corners the market on pain, and those who claim to have a "dark cloud" following them through life get on my nerves. Those who see the silver lining are my kind of people. I promise to not dump all of my emotional dirty laundry in your lap...please return the favor? My pet peeves are people who blame everyone and everything around them for their mistakes, shortcomings, and bad decisions, without taking any sort of responsibility themselves. My mistakes and bad decisions are mine...I own them, and I learn from them to become better at this life thing. Try it sometime! Lastly, I'm the child of multiple races and cultures...If you're the type of person who says that all mexicans should be deported, or if you think that "if you ain't latino, you ain't s**t", please move on. I've dealt with these types all my life, and I have to say that I'm done trying to prove my Latino heritage to those with La Raza cards and Che T-shirts, and denying it to those who think that all fair-skinned blue eyed people come from Norway. I Love Mariachi music and Willie Nelson when I'm in the mood, but I can't stand watching NASCAR or Novellas...get the idea? I don't place stereotypes and limitations on others based on their ethnicity, skin color, or lifestyle and I don't let others place those social/political/religious chains on me. Jesus taught us ...(read more) |
