About	He was born in Starkville, Miss., in 1947 to Richard and Frances McGuire. He received a bachelor of arts degree in biology from the University of California, San Diego, a master’s degree in zoology from California State University, Los Angeles, and a doctorate in parasitology from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He married Doris Joseph. Dr. McGuire was an educator his entire working life. He was a tenured professor at McKendree College in Lebanon, Ill., from 1983 to 1993. He moved to Farmington, N.M., to teach at San Juan College and retired from the Navajo Preparatory School in 2008. He moved to Cedaredge after retiring. He enjoyed spending time with his family, attending mountain man rendezvous, spending summers at his mountain cabin, volunteering, fishing, gardening, leatherworking, lively discussion and keeping in touch with former students via Facebook. Dr. McGuire is survived by his wife of 35 years, Doris; two sons, Philip (Melody) McGuire of Cedaredge and Patrick McGuire of Grand Junction; one brother, Eugene (Sharon) McGuire of Las Vegas, Nev.; his mother-in-law, Margaret Joseph of Cedaredge; a sister-in-law, Kay McGuire of Houston, Texas; a brother-in-law, Thomas (Sally) Joseph of O’Fallon, Ill., and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Philip McGuire. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
