About Me Update for David B. Worden I finished military service in Feb 1971. After some "Goof off" time I went to work at the parts counter of the Livermore, Grand Auto. In late 1972 I got married and took an apprenticeship with the machinists union (IAM) at a machine shop in San Leandro. They rebuilt engines for heavy tractors and trucks. After 2 years I finished it and the company was bought out and I was laid off, my wife was 5 months pregnant. In late 1974 I became a licensed insurance agent and broker for Farmers Insurance Group. I shared an office in the mall on first street, in the Vine Theater complex. In March of 1975 my son John was born, after 34 hours labor and a Cesarean. He was 10 pounds, 12 ounces and 21 inches long! That'a boy! In 1978 I was "Invited" into family court and escaped alive. (the charge was "Insufficient Financial Performer".) I then enrolled at Heald Institute of Technology, in San Jose, for an Electronic Engineering degree. Many won't believe this, but I made deans list 3 times, 4.0, 3.7 and 3.5. I graduated in June 1979 and went into the electronics industry starting with Control Data Corp. on main frame computers and systems at Lawrence Livermore Labs. I had been living in Santa Clara during school, right off Lawrence Expressway and El Camino. In late 1979 I moved back to Livermore, out on Charlotte way off East Ave. I then went into Microlithographics (Integrated Circuit/Chip production systems) with the Perkin-Elmer Corp. and started my Field Service/Tech support odyssey, which also covered Teleradiology and MRI systems. I later got degrees in Business Management and Education and finished first year law at Oakland College of Law, with an 82.1 average, in 1993. I would end up with 650,000 frequent flyer miles on 12 airlines and a lot of lost time away. All together I have "enjoyed" 7 blown tires on landing, 3 engine fires, a near mid-air over Phoenix, a blown cargo bay door and many delays, strandings and arrivals at the wrong place. Remember the big air controllers slow down, early 1980's, I was at JFK for that one and left 7 hours late. At one point, on a 2 month seminar, my son wouldn't come to the phone because he was sure I was dead. I got a U.S. map, put it on his wall and stuck pins in where I had been and it helped him. I ended up going to 34 states, oh well free sightseeing? In mid 1984 I was working as a system/network manager in San Jose and met a very interesting lady. In late 1984 we moved in together. On July 17th, 1988 we were married at our house in Morgan Hill, in Lakeview Estates, above Anderson reservoir. In Sept 1989 we bought a lot in Nevada, 40 miles north of Reno, just south of Pyramid lake and started to build a retirement house. We did the work ourselves and while it was a thrill, thank God we were still young enough. My high school wood working and construction classes became very valuable. Rodney Barr put in all the plumbing and drains. In late 1990 it was done to the rough inside and we went back to the bay area. We worked there and visited here to work on the house, until my wife ended up in the middle of a freeway shooting in May 1997 on I-680, and on June 2nd, 1997 we moved up to Nevada, permanently and early. My wife has been an Electronic Design Engineer since 1976. We worked tele-commute until being out-sourced in 2006. She is retired and I finished all the interior of the house, then built a 1,000 sq. ft. garage/shop, storage building and fuel storage bunker. I will soon go back to work as my building activities are done, and so is my back. My son John is a network/internet security consultant in San Jose and was a webmaster before. He is 36 and a real nice man. For 7 years, (1999 to 2006) he lived on Maui in Hawaii. We celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary in July 2011, and will, our "being" together 27 years, in November, 2011. We have a wonderful 3 year old Lab/Pointer dog who keeps us busy and we enjoy the peace and quiet. Some people I haven't seen or heard from in many years are David Hanchett, Bruce Grund, Weldon Kidd and Jack Newland. Bruce and I enlisted together on the buddy program in July 1969, after the first day of basic I didn't see him for quite a while. For those who knew him, a real privilege, Rodney Barr sadly passed away on July 26th, 2002. The Callahans chapel was nearly full and rightly so. (Note: I have since found Bruce Grund and David Hanchett, both are doing fine.) Along the way I checked some things into the basket;  GM Certified Automotive Mechanic  IAM Journeyman Automotive Machinist  A+ Certified Computer hardware/software license  Business Management Degree  General Education Degree  Electronic Engineering Degree  20 Doctoral units (Juris Doctor) 1st year law, 82.1 GPA  11 Control Data computer system certificates  4 Microsoft computer system certificates  OSAR Laser Disk Storage System (The 1st commercial system)  Massachusetts Computer Systems Certified  FDA accreditation for MRI medical system certification  Micralign Systems Certificates (3 systems, 100,200 & 300)  Insurance Agents and Brokers Licenses (Calif)  Shodan (1st degree black belt) Danzan Ryu Jujitsu (Nov 1985)  Jujitsu Instructor (1985-1993)  HUD & DOE certification for weatherization and energy efficiency  Red cross 1st aid and CPR certified (3 times) Dad was right, keep your nose clean, work hard, over time it builds u...(read more)
