About	He was born in Portland, Maine to Sumner and Alice (nee Morse) Ruggles and reared in Gorham, N.H. his parents' home town. He attended local schools and was graduated from Gorham High School in 1935. He enlisted in the United States Army to serve during World War II. He was deployed to Italy via St. Louis, Missouri. While in St. Louis he met and married Margaret Hattie Dies. The first of his two children, Anne Carol, was born during his deployment. FoUtah, survive him, as do four grandchildren and five. great-grandchildren..
