| About Me | 27 years in the US Army, 2 years in Vietnam, 1 year in Korea and I was in the Great Alaskan Earthquake and commanded a company in downtown Anchorage to fight off the looters. I commanded at the company, battalion and brigade levels with my final command assignment as the Commander of the 82d Airborne Division Support Command. I served in the Pentagon and Army Material Command Headquarters for nine years and retired with the rank of Colonel. At the time of my retirement I was one of the most decorated Officers on active duty. My awards include the Distinguished Service Metal; 3 awards of the Legion of Merit; 4 awards of the Bronze Star; the Meritorious Service Metal; The Joint Service Commendation Metal; the Air Metal; and 4 awards of the Army Commendation Metal. I retired for a second time from the Marriott Corporation after managing the Corporate Headquarters Complex and went into public service; serving on the Town Council and four years as the Vice Mayor of Colonial Beach. I was also the President of the Colonial Beach Historical Society and served on the Board of Directors. I have retired again and have published three volumes of a comprehensive encyclopedia on black powder artillery projectiles used by all the services that fought in North America (1759-1865) and an additional volume pending pending publication.
