Class of 1981

I had Authur Sherman for Commercial Art in 10th-12th grades. It was my favorite class. I got introduced to many ways of being artistic. (I'm crying while i write this) This class was my outlet for a kid with anger management issues & low self-esteem. I wish I could show him how far I've come from being in his space. Over the years, I've built furniture, I built my workshop in my basement, done photography, done heat press vinyl on shirts, embrodery by machine, now creating designs from scratch for 20oz tumblers. God keeps me at a job that financially allows me to afford to explore Creations this kid wouldn't think I could ever do. I've surpassed my wildest day dreams of creativity. All because of a teacher who opened the door in my mind to "try & see what you come up with". I loved him then as I love him now. I'm 60yrs old now. I really hope he knows he helped alot of us kids. We just needed somewhere to channel our energy. He was soft spoken, encouraging, when we got frustrated he gave us space to be frustrated & when we calmed down, we chose to try again. No words were needed. The tools were there but most of all, he had faith in us to challenge ourselves. Wherever you Mr. Sherman I will never ever forget you.
