About Me | I'm a cynic wearing rose-colored glasses who thinks good writing is as close to playing God as one might get. I'm married to the wonderful Cookie and am lucky to have the friends I do (no one else might tolerate me). And I'm usually up for a creative challenge. **************** Hey, I was in the Danville Light Opera production of JEKYLL AND HYDE as The Right Honorable Sir Archibald Proops, Q.C. Since catching the acting bug, I've portrayed Mayor George Shinn in "The Music Man," and Alfie Doolittle in "My Fair Lady." For Hoopeston's Artistic Reperatory Theatre, I was in "State Fair" as Dave Miller, the Hoop-La Barker, and Judge Heppenstahl. The following year, I was Bernie in "Cooking With Gus." In April, 2013, I got to play "Crazy Old Maurice" in Beauty & The Beast. And for Danville Red Mask Players, I was in Sharon Tipsword's "Romantic Fever" as Beauregard Lee ("Peanuts are my business, but peaches are my pleasure."). I also directed "Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?" for DLO and "The Actor's Nightmare" for Danville's Red Mask Theatre. I also have helped with the costuming and props in a few DLO productions alongside Cookie and was Stage Manager (and color commentator) for "The Spitfire Grill" and "A Little Night Music." In addition, I've helped write, produce, and perform in the skits that open the Metropolis (IL) Superman Celebration since 2008. I've also appeared in the documentary "Heroic Ambition" (directed by Scott Cranford) and the indy films "Revolting" and "House of Thaddeus" (both directed by Mike Boedicker) as well as the short film, "The Collaboration" (directed by John Gleckler). I loves me my IMDB page! My stage plays have been produced at Red Mask, Parkland College in Champaign, The Superman Celebration, and with the amazing n.u.f.a.n. Ensemble in Chicago. I am also the monthly writing columnist for Audio Movies Club, LLC, part of their Script Development team, and proud to be among their initial offerings (www.audiomoviesclub.com). In addition to being an interview transcriber for TwoMorrows Publishing since 2001, primarily in ALTER EGO and BACK ISSUE Magazine, I've also written for BACK ISSUE, THE JACK KIRBY COLLECTOR, HOGAN'S ALLEY, THE KRYPTON COMPANION, KNIGHTS OF THE DINNER TABLE, WHOTOPIA, among others. I've also done transcripts for several books, CHARLTON SPOTLIGHT, THE ADVOCATE, THE COMICS JOURNAL and the MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE DVD sets. As if that wasn't enough, I'm the former co-host/writer of FANCENTRAL FANCAST (www.blogtalkradio.com/fancentralnetwork), a monthly geek humor podcast that you MUST listen to. Star Trek, comic books, sci-fi, it's all fair game for me and Trekkie Kim! Now, I am the owner and "Chief Set of Hands" at Freelance Words. We execute scripting, guerrilla promotion, business consultation, and publishing for small to medium-sized businesses. You can find us at freelancewords.com and if you'd take the time to LIKE our Facebook page, I would love you to pieces, I would. And through this all, I consider "spare time" a concept that oth...(read more) |
