| About Me | I left GW in Feb.1967, when my family moved to Pendleton South Carolina. Pendleton would not let me start school until the following September due to the differences in the school systems, Danville was on a semester system and Pendleton was on a yearly, At the time I was taking some first semester class in the second semester. I ended up not going back to regular high school. In a few months I moved back to Danville to marry my high school sweetheart. I married and went to work building mobile homes. After a year of this very hard, low paying work, I realized the mistake I had made by not returning and finishing high school. With the birth of my son I new that if I was going to be able to give him and his mother a good life, I would need more training. I returned to South Carolina and started a GED class and at the same time started in a two year electrical degree program. I got my GED in just a few months in 1968. And in 1971, I completed the Industrial Electronics Degree. After College I worked for several textile companies as an electrician. In 1974 I started with Michelin Tire Company as an electrician, and then trained to be an instrument mechanic/technician. In 1978, I received a promotion to engineering position. In 1983 I went through a divorce. In 1985 I found and married the love of my life, Beth, and moved her from Suffolk VA to Anderson SC where we lived with my two children and her 1 child. In 1986 Michelin relocated us to Greenville SC, the companies North American Headquarters. I worked for Michelin for 35 years holding many different engineering positions and spent the last 20 years managing various construction projects in the US, Canada, and Mexico. In 2009, we had a very sick daughter and I need to be at home helping to care for her, not traveling all over North America. So I retired at age 60. Six months later we lost our daughter, Jill. This hit us hard, home didn’t seem like home anymore. About this time my wife’s parents needed help, her father had developed Alzheimer’s, so we moved back to Suffolk VA and have been here since.
