About Me	Grew up in Garden City from 1947 on, graduated from Garden City HS in 1963, Bennett College in 1965, Southern Methodist University in 1967 majoring in Journalism. Skipped graduation to go to work at the Associated Press in Miami, Fla. in 1968 ,then returned to New York to work at Mutual Broadcasting. Married Luke Lynch in 1970 and started a family, two children born in 1973 and 1976. While raising children was employed at American Red Cross in Nassau County until I retired and began volunteering at the Red Cross. Long before Katrina realized the importance of helping pet owners in disasters. After witnessing the trauma of pet owners leaving their pets behind in disaster situations in Bayville and Morgan's Island and in individual disasters I left the ARC in 2005 to found the Pet Safe Coalition, a pet owner support not for profit organization helping save lives of pets and people in disasters.Pet Safe was the first County Animal Response Team in New York State and Pet Safe volunteers were the first animal advocates in Nassau County's emergency operations center during the April 15, 2007 Tropical Storm which flooded the North Shore. Team Pet Safe housed 53 pets at Bideawee when Hurricane Irene hit Long Island.
