Dan/Daniel Lecano/Lacano/Licano/Liconno

Class of 1978

Hello, I know this is a nontraditional “alumni post” since I don’t actually know the name of the Garden City alum, but I am attending to search for someone who may have attended Garden City High School before he went on to attend Michigan State University with my father. My dad became extremely close to Dan at MSU, where they were roommates and intermural basketball teammates. My dad has been trying to find Dan for decades now, but due to the fact that he didn’t know how to spell his Italian last name, the search has been unsuccessful. My dad has an unusual German last name, so if Dan was trying to find him, it might present the same road block. Anyway, I am attempted to locate Dan here to surprise my father since I know it would make him really happy just to know the spelling of his name, so he might be able to look him up. I know this is a long shot, but I am hoping that by posting here someone might be able to help me.

Anyway, my name is Hannah. I made a profile on this website in search of a former student from Garden City named Dan/Daniel. He attended college at Michigan State University with my father, Dale, before they lost contact. Because he was likely at MSU sometime between 80-83ish, I assume he'd have attended high school sometime between 1974-80. I know he was a phenomenal basketball player in high school, who was offered a basketball scholarship to a college in Michigan prior to eventually transferring to MSU. I think he was a good tennis player in high school as well. In college, he may have studied urban planning/development. As I said, it's been difficult to track him down because my dad can't remember how to spell his last name, which is likely of Italian origin. He thought it was possibly Lacano, Lecano, Locano, Lecano, Laconno, LiCoano, Loacano, Laicano, Leono, or something like that (or something spelled completely different that may sound like that).

I know there's not a high likelihood of anyone receiving this message and wanting to help me with this wild goose search. However, I wanted to reach out just in case anyone might know of a great basketball player from your high school named Dan/Daniel with a last name that started with an "L." Even if no one knows of him personally, I was hoping someone might have high school yearbooks from the mid-late 70s, which might have him listed on one of the basketball teams. It's a long-shot; I know! I figured it would at least be worth a try though since it would mean the world to my father to reunite with his long-lost friend. I'd just love to know how to spell his name, so I could search more effectively. To anyone who has read this far, thank you for your time! If you have any questions or suggestions for me, you can email me at hlantzer@yahoo.com. Thanks again!
