About | Daniel Clayton Wenner, 46, of Earlysville, VA , formerly of Dale City and Fredericksburg, was called to work in heaven on Thursday, August 7, 2008. Danny was born on January 26, 1962 to Thomas C. Wenner and Patricia K. Wenner, and was preceded in death by his grandfather, Leslie Barrett Wenner, grandmother, Zella Tompkins, grandfather, Alger Paul VanPelt, and a much beloved uncle, John Brown. Danny was a graduate of Garfield High School in Woodbridge, a long time employee at Lustine Toyota-Dodge in Woodbridge, and most recently at Klockner-Intertrans Carrier Company in Gordonsville. A member of the 19th Virginia infantry Civil War re-enactors group, Danny was an avid Civil War and history buff since childhood, and loved to share his knowledge educating others. A skilled craftsman and mechanic, Danny enjoyed woodworking, metalwork, and auto repair. Not one to sit still for long, you could usually find him relic hunting, building something for one of his boys, fixing something, or looking for something that needed fixing. Survivors include his two sons, Jonathan Daniel Wenner of Spotsylvania, Marvin Madison Wenner and his mother, Tara Madison, both of High Point, NC, formerly of Barboursville; his mother, Patricia K. Wenner of Charlottesville, formerly of Fredericksburg; his father, Thomas C. Wenner and his wife, Joyce, of Fredericksburg; brother, Thomas W. Wenner of Manassas; two nephews, Nick and Stephanos; niece, Kaitlin; his grandmother, Julia VanPelt of Woodbridge; his grandfather, Robert Tompkins of Tennessee two aunts, Judy Russell and her husband, Ron, of Woodbridge and Judy Brown of Staunton; and a host of great aunts and uncles, and cousins. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 13 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg with Rev. James Vaught officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
