About Of Dumfries, VA, passed away at her residence on Saturday, May 15, 2004, from inflammatory breast cancer. She is survived by her husband, Michael Bloomer; sons, Steven of Fredericksburg, VA and Eric of Durham, NC and daughter-in-law Wendy; mother, Pauline Maloney Fairweather of Palm Bay, FL; sisters, Patricia Fisher and her husband Ron of Concord, VA and Cheryl Studds of Woodbridge, VA. She was predeceased by her father, Carl Arthur Fairweather, who died in 1984.
Kim is a 1971 graduate of Garfield High School in Woodbridge, VA. At the time of her death, she was the Director for Information Systems and Infrastructure at the Marine Corps Systems Command at Quantico Marine Corps Base. Prior to that, she had worked on the staff of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development and Acquisition at the Pentagon. She has also worked for the Naval Air Systems Command where she was the Principal Deputy Program Manager for Air Combat Electronics. She had worked for the Federal government for 32 years and was the recipient of numerous awards including the Department of Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award.
Family and friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at THE MOUNTCASTLE FUNERAL HOME, 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City, VA. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19 at Concordia Lutheran Church, 3637 Graham Park Rd., Triangle, VA, followed by interment at Quantico National Cemetery at 2 p.m.
