Most recently, he was the five-year director of the highly successful Occoquan Arts and Crafts Show and enjoyed his adopted hometown of Occoquan.

The proud father of two sons, Greg was dedicated to his family, friends and community. He was a regular volunteer offering home repair for the many homes of the Good Shepherd Housing Foundation. He was known for his kind heart and generous support to friends in need. He also had an abundant pool of energy and enjoyed tending his herb garden and sailing with his life partner, Gina Garcia, on their sailboat named "C'est Sea Bon".

Greg Gilker is survived by his two sons, Richard, 24, and Charles, 18, their mother, Deborah Harris of Manassas, and his parents William and Erna Gilker of Woodbridge, Virginia. He also leaves behind his life partner, Gina Garcia, of Occoquan.
