About Me	ABC's of Leadership A leader is more than someone who has followers. She needs skill and then someone to lead well. Leadership of both large and small groups should include an acute sense of responsibility to God, the local church and the group itself. Leadership should arise out of who we are before God. A seasoned leader learns how to bring her beliefs, values and experiences in line with the direction of the local church. A wise leader realizes that her responsibility is to move people to God. Let's look at some basic aspects of good leadership. A: Accountability This comes from maintaining your own personal walk with God and leading from your life, not just from knowledge or intellect. In Acts 3:1-11 Peter and John offered to a lame beggar the only thing that really mattered. They did not have silver or gold but Christ Himself. Let's pour into others what God has poured into us. B: Balance A leader realizes that her own ministry is imbalanced when it is colored by her own beliefs, values, experiences and emotions. Balance is found by accepting and recognizing the ministry of other members in the body of Christ. He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. (Ephesians 4:16) As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so the whole body is healthy, growing full of love. C: Corporate Authority We serve under the authority of church leadership and work in tandem with our pastors to extend the church's ministry. A leader must be careful to not allow division. A wise leader serves with humility and is open to receive correction. Moses' father-in-law, Jethro, observed how the demands of leadership had worn on Moses. He wisely encouraged Moses by pointing out that a shared ministry is a strong ministry. (Ex. 18) Whether you lead handfuls or hundreds, leadership is an enormous responsibility.
