Miami Heat Joins In Effort CAMBRIDGE GLOBAL STUDIES ACADEMY BOOSTERS ANNOUNCE BRICK FUNDRAISING PROGRAM; LEAVE A LASTING LEGACY IN STONE
The Cambridge Global Studies Academy (C.G.S.A) Booster Club at G. Holmes Braddock Senior High School is proud to announce the launching of its first major fundraising program, a memorial brick patio called the 'Pathway to the Future.'
The goal of the C.G.S.A. is to provide students with a global perspective that will empower them to create a better world.
The 'Pathway to the Future,' which will feature engraved bricks, will be placed in the front of the school, 3601 SW 147th Avenue, surrounding the statue of the school's mascot, the Braddock Bulldog.
Bricks, which give faculty, students, alumni, businesses and the community in general an opportunity to leave a lasting legacy at Braddock, come in two sizes.
A 4x8 brick, has space for three lines of wording (18 characters per line) sells for $100, while an 8x8 brick-expected to be popular with South Florida businesses supporting the C.G.S.A.-features six lines of wording (18 characters per line) and sells for $225. The cost of the bricks is tax-deductible.
The Miami Heat has joined the C.G.S.A. Booster Club's efforts by donating a game day package-including four tickets and a parking pass-to a game during the 2010-2011 season. Everyone who purchases a brick will have his or her name entered into a drawing, which is expected to take place in May.
The Global Studies Academy provides a select number of highly motivated Honors and Gifted students, as well as those with an interest in world affairs, with a challenging academic curriculum that will prepare them to compete in-and shape-the global society that awaits them, said Braddock Principal Manuel Garcia, who purchased the first brick. "This Pathway to the Future will help them achieve that goal."
