Warren Heikes "Dutch" Munsinger
Class of 1954
Warren graduated from here in 1939 as farm-boy Warnie Munsinger. But after WWII and as "Dutch Munsinger" he was a hardchargin' nationally known 1950s race car driver. Dutch started racing in Chicago IL in 1954 and he raced with many other top notch drivers like Jud Larson, Tiny Lund, Lee Petty, Johnny Beauchamp, Don Oldenberg, Jr Johnson, etc. He raced all over the Midwest, Deep South, and Eastern seaboard.
He was in the NASCAR Convertibles Division, starting out in the SAFE Circuit of Champions All Stars Division. He was in the IMCA and was in their Top 40 drivers. Dutch raced 1954-1959, and was killed in an IL road accident in 1960. Photo is of Dutch in May 1955 in Indy, IN. He has "Tabor Iowa" right on his car.
