Kent Zimmerman, 61, of Claycomo, Mo., died in the early morning of Friday, Sept. 5, 2008.

He was born in Columbus on Jan. 4, 1947, to Gene and Marilynn Zimmerman. He was raised in Fremont and graduated from Fremont High School and Midland Lutheran College. He proudly served his country as a member of the 101st Airborne during the Vietnam War, and received a Bronze Star. He married Judy Mintken of Hooper in June of 1971. He had been a part of the chemical industry for nearly 40 years. He started his career in Omaha and moved to Kansas City with his wife, Judy, in 1975. He has owned and operated Diversified Chemical Products, Inc. since 1985.

He was involved in the local community as an active member of the North Kansas City Rotary and the Missouri Stream Team.

Survivors include: his wife Judy; a son, Alex Zimmerman of Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Laurie (Mrs. Harry "Trey") Waring III of Olive Branch, Miss.; his parents, Gene and Marilynn Zimmerman of Fremont; and two brothers, John Zimmerman of Tabor, Iowa, and Tom Zimmerman of Council Bluffs, Iowa; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a devoted husband, father, and employer and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of life will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at Finnigan's, 503 East Eighteenth Ave., North Kansas City, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making contributions to the North Kansas City Rotary Club.
