David B. Dickerson was born June 24, 1947, in Fremont, NE, where he was raised with his two sisters. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1965 and then attended Norfolk Junior College and Midland College. He was editor of his high school newspaper and during his college years wrote sports for the Fremont Tribune and later for the Omaha World Herald. He served four years in the United States Air Force and then attended college at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Throughout the years, he played baseball, basketball, and tennis. On July 23, 1972, he married Catherine Weiss and they had two children, Jayne and David. For many years he worked in route sales and later worked at Omaha VA Medical Center until his retirement.
Dave came from a musical family and was known for his great appreciation of music. He was an avid sports fan and had an extensive knowledge of sports trivia. He loved the Huskers, Creighton basketball, and soccer. He enjoyed reading the newspaper and table shuffleboard, where he was inducted into the Nebraska State Shuffleboard Hall of Fame in 2018. He had an infectious personality, never met a stranger, and got great pleasure out of pulling pranks on others.
Left to cherish his memory include his children, Jayne (Duke) Perfect, David (Leah) Dickerson, grandchildren, Catherine and Chloe Perfect, sister, Jan (Dickerson) Rohloff; many family and friends.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ford and Inez (Phillips) Dickerson and sister, Nola (Dickerson) Nelson.
