| About Me | 8/23/12 - Thanks to all who have sent prayers and good wishes my way. The second knee replacement was performed on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 7:30 AM and I was in a room alert and hungry by 11:30. AM nmow recovering at home and so far this time isn't as bad as the last time, My pain level is much lower and I have been able to sleep more. I'll post more later. 5/8/12 - Today I had a somewhat bad day. I took a shower this morning and immediately ran a fever of over 101. Then the physical therapist came and my fever had gone down to normal but I still wasn't feeling like I have on other days so we did indoor therapy and will do more outdoor work on Thursday. I spent the rest of the day in bed with ice on my knee. For anyone who was wondering and for those who didn't know that something was up, I had my knee replacement surgery on Friday, April 13, 2012 and I am doing really great. Don't get me wrong, my knee is killing me right now but my pain meds haven't kicked in yet. I got to come home Sunday nighs so I was in hospital only a little over two days. I started seeing my physical therapist and nurse on Monday and got set up with my machine to bend my knew for hours on end. When I left the hospital, my angle of bend was 60 degrees and now I am up to 80 degrees. The goal is at least 90 and up to 115 if I can tolerate the pain. So far, so good. My incision is aboput 9 inches long right down the fropnt of my leg. Then there are staples about every 1/8 inch so it looks similar to a zipper. The staples come out next Friday and then I will be able to do more stuff. So far, I am not disappointed with the results. I hurt but not as much as before and it is a different kind of hurt that I know will eventually go away whereas, the other pain just kept getting worse and worse. More later Happy 2012. I am thinking of having my knees done. Whe Specialist I saw about my twisted anlkes told me I bruised my bones in the right foot and had extensive bruising in my left foot but only to soft tissue. HE also advised that I have my knees looked at because it appears that i am now grinding bone on bone since my cartilage is gone in my left knee. Registered my domestic partnership today June 6, 2011, in University City, MO. We went out to dinner to celebrate. I lost 55 lbs ...(read more) |
