| About Me | Living life to its fullest, can you ever really do it enough? In a nut shell, I couldn’t be happier! I’m married to a wonderful girl that I met back in 1981. We have now been married for 30 years. I have 2 incredible daughters that I am very proud of. Often, I have been self employed throughout the years which allowed me to possess the most valuable thing I could ever imagine having, the freedom to drive my kids to school every day for the first 5 or 6 years of their academic lives, and to be there to watch them grow up. That’s a lot of McDonalds pancakes on the way to school every morning. Our modest business success’ have also allowed Karen the freedom to not have to work while the kids were young, so she could tend to the most important things in our lives, personally raising the kids, Girl Scouts, dance, cheer leading, singing lessons, plays, volunteering at the schools, etc. I am in a somewhat conservative mode right now, I’m not taking a lot of chances these days, I have a great job that I truly appreciate, that has allowed us to let Karen go back to Oakland University to get her teaching degree. She graduated in December of ’09 and is now teaching little 2nd grade rugrats on a daily basis. Health wise, I dodged a bullet in 2010. Two days before Christmas in ’09 I was diagnosed with neck cancer. It was stage 4 Squamous Cell Carcinoma and it spread to my lymph nodes. I went through a horrific regiment of Chemo and Radiation in early 2010, but made it through. Toward the end of my treatments, my doctors always told me “you look so good”, they always had this surprised look on their face like I shouldn’t look good. I can laugh at that now, but that always concerned me. Every day means something to me right now. As I sit here on a Sunday morning, drinking a cup of coffee and jotting these notes down I consider myself the luckiest and happiest person on the face of the earth. My kids are great and I am very proud of both of them. They both love music. Taylor is out of high school now and Sydnee is in her last year of High School. They have both accomplished so much. Taylor played the lead (Belle) in her high school production of Beauty and The Beast her senior year. She won the role the day I started my chemo and radiation treatments. Looking forward to seeing her on that stage helped carry me through that unimaginable time. She was incredible. Syd has also made her way into National Honor Society, Select Choir and played roles in the school musical the past 3 years. I am so proud of her, this year she played Gertrude McFuzz in Seussical and was incredible. Sydnee will be attending Oakland University after she graduates from High School. My hobbies and interests throughout the years have been photography, computers, mountain biking, tent camping, wood working, traveling and just being involved with my family. I don’t tend to put things off anymore, and I don’t have many fears. Since my cancer treatments, I finished my basement, built my deck, helped with construction for the school plays and got involved in more projects than I can remember. Life is good! And I intend on sticking around. Like many people who have gone through what I have gone through, I find I no longer have a ...(read more) |
