| About Me | Life Well, a lot has happened since my disastorous high school days, but then 40 years does that... I have become a wife twice, and a divorcee twice...sigh, a mother, a teacher, a published author, union president, city councilwoman, football fan (Thanks to my son), cheering fan (Thanks to my daughter), I have cruised the nation on the back end of a Harley (of course this was prior to the above mentioned children), I prayed while my son fought in Iraq and gloried the day he arrived home safe, I cried when my daughter lost her way and rejoiced as she slowly found her way back home. I planted myself in the rural area of Michigan, where I see no big city action, have no nearby stores, and have bovine and beefy animals for neighbors. The pace is sloooooooow but the thoughts are peaceful. Family matters, children matter and community matter to me. Three beautiful grandchildren call me Yaya. They are my heart. If ever I had the opportunity to go back and change anything about my high school experiences, it would be that I would care less about looks, and popularity, and more about people. I would have become friends with Barry Westmoreland, and Nicky Koren (I bet they were terrific fellows). The most exciting thing that has happened to me since graduation of high school? So many great things have come my way, but to choose one would be my journey through my children's lives. They are inspiring to me, they have courage and faith that the world is a wonderous place. Both of them well past high school now, they have the world on a platter awaiting them, it's there for the taking. It wasn't until after I left the closed minded world of high school that I found out what is truely important in this life. It's not how you look, not being popular to those you really wouldn't want as friends if they weren't "popular" themselves. It's not the clothing that you wear, the size of your body, or the car that you drive.... it's the quality of the self inside. Emerson Jr. High, I hated being called Bubbles! Franklin High, hated every day I had to walk through the door, disastorious except for the few true friends I had and still carry with me through life.
