Army Air Corp (The Brown Shoe Air Force) in AACS as a cryptographer. 18 months overseas . In the Balkans during combat then became NCOIC G2 in Naples Italy. Top rank S/Sgt. Awarded Bronze Star for ground combat in Greece

Clarence Joseph (Mike) Sweeney
Class of 1951
Army, 8 Years
Drafted into the U.S. Army December 8, 1958. Graduated from the 6th Army NCO Academy 1959. Attended Infantry OCS. Served in the 1st Infantry Division and the 101st Airborne Division. Killed in Vietnam while serving with the 101st Airborne Division on February 7, 1967.

Commissioned in 1963 upon graduation from Seattle University. Served as a Tank Platoon leader in Germany, Cavalry Troop Commander, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Ft Lewis, and Squadron Commander 4th Squadron 12th Cavalry, 5th Mech Div Fort Polk LA. Taught at the U.S. and British Army Staff College and as U.S. Army Exchange Prof at the Philippine Military Academy. Served 3 tours in Vietnam as Ground Liaison Officer, 3rd Tactical Figher Wing, Advisor to 6th Vietnamese Cav Regiment and as Operation Advisor to Dinh Tong Province.
